1. Iron Ore

Iron ore is the most important metallic mineral in India and serves as the primary raw material for the iron and steel industry. India possesses large reserves of high-grade hematite and magnetite ores. Major iron ore-producing states include Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Goa. Iron ore is essential for manufacturing steel used in construction, transportation, machinery, and infrastructure development. The growth of industries and urbanization has increased its demand significantly. India is one of the leading producers and exporters of iron ore. Proper mining practices and environmental conservation are necessary to ensure the sustainable utilization of this valuable resource.

2. Manganese

Manganese is an important metallic mineral used mainly in the production of steel and various alloys. It improves the strength, hardness, and durability of steel. India has significant manganese reserves in states such as Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Odisha. Apart from steel manufacturing, manganese is also used in batteries, chemicals, glass, and ceramics industries. It plays a vital role in industrial development and economic growth. Due to its widespread industrial applications, manganese is considered a strategic mineral resource. Sustainable mining and efficient utilization are essential to preserve reserves and reduce environmental impacts associated with extraction activities.

3. Bauxite

Bauxite is the principal ore of aluminium and is one of India’s most important metallic minerals. It is found mainly in Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. Aluminium extracted from bauxite is lightweight, corrosio
