1. India Hosts First BRICS Sherpa Meeting
India successfully hosted the first BRICS Sherpa Meeting of 2026 in New Delhi, marking the formal beginning of its fourth BRICS presidency (after 2012, 2016, and 2021). Chaired by India’s BRICS Sherpa and Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Sudhakar Dalela, with support from Sous-Sherpa Shambhu L. Hakki, the meeting brought together representatives from the expanded 10-member bloc—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE—along with partner countries such as Belarus.
