The lead story says India and the European Union are finally close to wrapping up negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement that have dragged on for almost two decades. Both sides are expected to formally announce the conclusion of talks at the summit; the text will then go through legal “scrubbing” and ratification processes. The FTA is expected to lower tariffs on a large share of Indian exports to the EU and, in return, gradually open the Indian market to European goods and services, including high-end cars and wines under calibrated terms.
