1. Kerala SIR vs Local Body Polls — EC Tells SC There Is No Hitch
The Election Commission has reassured the Supreme Court that Kerala’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls can proceed simultaneously with local body elections. The State had argued that the exercise was “near impossible” due to manpower deployment and procedural complexity. The EC countered this by stating that 99% enumeration forms have already been distributed and more than half digitised, indicating administrative readiness.
