1. Types of Numbers
The number system is the foundation of mathematics and includes different categories of numbers. Natural numbers are counting numbers such as 1, 2, 3, and so on. Whole numbers include zero along with natural numbers. Integers consist of positive numbers, negative numbers, and zero. Rational numbers can be expressed as a fraction of two integers where the denominator is not zero. Irrational numbers cannot be written as simple fractions and include numbers like √2 and π. Real numbers consist of both rational and irrational numbers. Understanding these categories helps in solving mathematical problems and developing numerical reasoning skills.
