Context
The Chief of the Army Staff, General Dhiraj Seth, has unveiled Vision VIJAY, a comprehensive strategic roadmap to transform the Indian Army into a technology-enabled, future-ready, and multi-domain force. The initiative aligns with India's "Decade of Transformation" (2023–2032) in defence and the Prime Minister's JAI vision—Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation.
History
India's military modernization has evolved through successive defence reforms following major conflicts and changing security challenges. Recent initiatives such as the establishment of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), the Department of Military Affairs (DMA), theatre command reforms, and the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme have accelerated defence transformation. Vision VIJAY builds upon these reforms by providing a long-term roadmap for the Indian Army.
