Vikram-1: India’s First Private Orbital Rocket
Vikram-1, developed by Hyderabad-based startup Skyroot Aerospace, is set to become India’s first privately built orbital launch vehicle, with a proposed launch around June 2026 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota. Unlike sub-orbital rockets, Vikram-1 is capable of placing satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
