U.S. Signs New Trade Pacts with Four Nations at ASEAN Summit
At the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur (26–28 October 2025), the United States signed new trade agreements with Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, strengthening its regional economic footprint and signalling deeper geopolitical engagement in the Indo-Pacific. The summit, themed “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, witnessed the formal admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th member—its first expansion since the 1990s.
