Why in News?
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched TribeX, a dedicated digital learning platform aimed at preserving India's tribal heritage while expanding access to quality education, skill development, and employment opportunities for tribal communities. The platform was launched in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on 7 July 2026 by the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram.
Background
India is home to more than 700 Scheduled Tribes, possessing rich traditions, languages, art forms, and indigenous knowledge systems. However, many tribal languages and cultural practices face the risk of gradual decline due to modernisation and limited documentation. At the same time, tribal communities in remote regions often have limited access to higher education, vocational training, and digital learning. TribeX seeks to bridge this gap by combining cultural preservation with technology-enabled education.
