Q1. Electoral-roll revision has become a major political controversy. How can the Election Commission ensure both accurate voter lists and public trust?
Answer: Sir/Ma'am, accurate electoral rolls are essential for free and fair elections, but no eligible citizen should be wrongly excluded. The Election Commission must remove duplicate and ineligible entries while protecting genuine voters. Every proposed deletion should follow proper verification, notice and an opportunity to respond. Citizens should have simple procedures for correction and appeal. Political parties should raise concerns with evidence, while the Commission should explain its decisions transparently. My view is that electoral integrity has two equally important dimensions: preventing wrongful inclusion and preventing wrongful exclusion. Public confidence depends on achieving both without political bias.
Q2. An investigative report has raised concerns about incomplete property declarations by senior bureaucrats. Does compulsory disclosure automatically ensure administrative integrity?
