TEN CRITICAL QUESTIONS ON CURRENT GEOPLOITICAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES – 146
1. Does cancelling a compromised recruitment examination protect fairness, or can it create another form of injustice?
Answer: Cancellation may be necessary when an examination has been seriously compromised, because public recruitment must retain credibility. However, blanket cancellation can also punish candidates who qualified honestly. In Jharkhand, around 6.4 lakh candidates had applied for JSSC-CGL and nearly 1,975 selected candidates had already joined service. In my view, cancellation should therefore be the last corrective measure, supported by forensic investigation. The better solution is prevention through secure question-setting, reliable vendors, independent audits and transparent grievance redress. Examination integrity ultimately concerns equality of opportunity and citizens' trust in the State.
2. How should India balance online regulation with freedom of political expression?
