TEN CRITICAL QUESTIONS ON CURRENT GEOPLOITICAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES – 110
1. The conflict in West Asia has intensified with tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. Why is the Strait of Hormuz strategically important for India?
Answer: The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important oil shipping routes, through which a large share of global crude oil and LNG trade passes. India imports a significant portion of its energy from the Gulf region, making uninterrupted navigation vital for its energy security. Any disruption increases oil prices, inflation and transportation costs. Therefore, India supports freedom of navigation, peaceful dispute resolution and international maritime law. Diversifying energy sources, strengthening strategic petroleum reserves and promoting renewable energy will further reduce India's vulnerability to such geopolitical crises.
2. The editorial suggests that Indian courts should reconsider long judicial vacations. Do you think judicial reforms are necessary?
