Shtil-1 Missile System
India recently signed a ₹2,182 crore (approximately $236 million) agreement with Russia’s JSC Rosoboronexport for the procurement of the Shtil-1 missile system, a medium-range naval Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) system designed to protect warships from aerial threats. The acquisition forms part of India’s ongoing effort to strengthen the air defence capability of the Indian Navy, particularly in the strategically important Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
