Sarhul Festival, celebrated on 21 March 2026, is a prominent tribal festival of Jharkhand and the Chotanagpur plateau, symbolising the advent of spring and the beginning of the new year. The term ‘Sarhul’ is derived from ‘Sar’ (Sal tree) and ‘Hul’ (worship), meaning worship of the Sal tree (Shorea robusta), which holds central cultural and ecological significance.
