Qadian–Beas Railway Line Project

The Qadian–Beas Railway Line Project is an important railway infrastructure initiative recently approved by the Government of India for the Majha region of Punjab. The project aims to construct a 39.68-kilometre broad-gauge railway line connecting Qadian in Gurdaspur district with Beas in Amritsar district at an estimated cost of about ₹1,400 crore. It is being implemented by Northern Railway under Indian Railways and is intended to improve connectivity in areas that have remained outside the mainstream railway network for decades. The project will pass through important towns and rural centres such as Dhapai, Ghuman, Butala, and Sathiala, and will include two new crossing stations, 11 major bridges, 121 minor bridges, and 54 road underbridges. The railway line will also be equipped with the indigenous Kavach train collision avoidance system, enhancing operational safety.
