The National Child Health Programme (RBSK 2.0) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at ensuring early identification and free treatment of health conditions in children aged 0–18 years. Implemented under the National Health Mission by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the programme was originally launched in 2013 and has been recently upgraded through revised guidelines in May 2026.
The programme focuses on the “4Ds” framework—Defects at birth, Diseases, Deficiencies, and Developmental delays. Under RBSK 2.0, its scope has been expanded to include mental health issues, behavioural disorders, and early risk factors of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and hypertension, reflecting changing epidemiological patterns in India.
