Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai Committee
The Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai Committee is a high-level panel set up by the Gujarat government in February 2025 to examine the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state. Headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, the five-member committee also included C. L. Meena, R. C. Kodekar, Dakshesh Thakar, and Gita Shroff. It undertook statewide consultations and reportedly received over 19 lakh suggestions, reflecting an attempt at broad public participation.
