The India–Uzbekistan joint military exercise ‘Dustlik’ (meaning “friendship” in Uzbek) is an annual bilateral defence engagement aimed at enhancing interoperability and strengthening strategic ties. The 7th edition (April 2026) is being conducted at Gurumsaray Field Training Area in Uzbekistan’s Namangan region, reflecting continuity in defence cooperation.
Initiated in 2019, the exercise is alternately hosted by India and Uzbekistan. Over successive editions, it has evolved from basic counter-terror drills to complex multi-domain sub-conventional operations, involving coordination between land and air forces. Participation typically includes around 60 personnel from each side; the 2026 edition features troops from India’s Mahar Regiment and the Indian Air Force.
