India’s First 14D Virtual Zoo Opens in Indore

India’s first 14D Virtual Zoo and Digital Jungle Safari was inaugurated on 16 August 2026 by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav at the Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya, Indore. The facility combines wildlife education with immersive digital technology and has been described by officials as India’s first 14D virtual zoo-and-safari facility located within a zoo.
Salient Features
The project covers about 8,000 sq. ft. and was developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of around ₹4.5 crore. Its major attractions include a 14D cinema theatre, digital jungle safari and immersive 3D dome experience. The 14D theatre uses moving seats and effects such as water sprays, wind, fog, bubbles and vibrations to create an interactive wildlife experience. A specialised waterproof screen has reportedly been imported from South Korea.

Virtual zoos represent a growing use of extended reality, simulation and digital displays for environmental education. Unlike conventional zoos, such facilities can present wildlife and ecosystems without requiring additional captive animals.
