It mainly affects the lungs (Pulmonary TB), but can also infect organs such as the brain, spine, lymph nodes, and kidneys, leading to Extrapulmonary TB (EPTB), which is often difficult to diagnose and treat. India accounts for nearly one-fourth of the global TB burden and has set an ambitious target to eliminate TB by 2025, five years ahead of the global target of 2030.
