On 10 February 2026, the Union Health Minister launched the annual nationwide Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign to eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (LF), a Neglected Tropical Disease caused primarily (99% cases in India) by the parasite Wuchereria bancrofti and transmitted through Culex mosquitoes.
