The unveiling of “Mission Drishti” by GalaxEye Space marks a major advancement in India’s private space capabilities. Founded by IIT Madras alumni, the Bengaluru-based startup aims to launch the world’s first multi-sensor Earth observation satellite integrating optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technologies on a single platform.
Historically, Earth observation satellites have relied either on optical sensors (limited by daylight and weather) or SAR (capable of all-weather imaging but lacking visual clarity). Mission Drishti introduces the innovative SyncFused OptoSAR architecture, combining both capabilities to provide high-resolution, all-weather, day-and-night imaging. Equipped with AI-powered in-orbit data processing using advanced hardware, the satellite can analyse data in space itself, reducing latency and enabling near real-time insights.
