Salient Features: The meeting, chaired by India’s Health Secretary, brought together representatives from all expanded BRICS members. The overarching theme was “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” India introduced two new priorities: a BRICS Mission for Healthy Lifestyles (targeting NCD risk factors like poor diet, inactivity, tobacco, and alcohol) and a strong push for mental health and wellness. The agenda also covered nine pillars, including TB research collaboration, regulatory convergence for medical products, an integrated early warning system for infectious diseases, digital health expansion, promotion of evidence-based traditional medicine, and advancing universal health coverage (UHC).
