Context

On 19 July 2026, Bangladesh and the United States inaugurated the annual Exercise Tiger Lightning-2026 at the Jalalabad Cantonment, Sylhet, reinforcing defence cooperation and interoperability between the two countries.

History of the Issue

Exercise Tiger Lightning was launched in 2017 as a bilateral military engagement between the Bangladesh Armed Forces and the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC). The exercise was temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed thereafter.
