The 52nd G7 Summit is scheduled to be held from 15–17 June 2026 in Évian-les-Bains, France, under French presidency. India, though not a member of the G7, has been invited as an outreach partner, reflecting its growing global significance. Other invited countries include Brazil, South Korea, and Kenya. The summit will focus on global economic stability, geopolitical tensions, energy security, climate change, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
Historically, the G7 evolved from the G6 (1975) formed in response to the oil crisis, later expanding to include Canada (1976). Although it remains an informal grouping without legal authority, it continues to influence global economic governance, representing around 44% of global GDP. India’s engagement with the G7 has increased over the past decade, particularly as major global challenges require broader representation beyond advanced economies.
