1. Supreme Court Proposes Relief for Digital Arrest Victims
The Supreme Court examined measures to protect victims of so-called digital arrest scams, in which fraudsters impersonate police officers, judges or investigative agencies to intimidate individuals into transferring money. The Court considered proposals from the Reserve Bank of India to temporarily suspend suspicious transactions and introduce safeguards against fraudulent withdrawals. It also directed States to provide information about registered FIRs and the progress of investigations.
