1. Centre Notifies Four New Labour Codes
The Union government formally notified all four Labour Codes—Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security, and Occupational Safety—marking one of the largest labour reforms since Independence. These replace 29 older, fragmented laws and seek to streamline compliance, expand universal social security, introduce gender pay parity, and strengthen protections for women workers, including night-shift permissions with safety measures.
