1. India–Indonesia Strategic Partnership Enters a New Phase
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto signed several landmark agreements covering defence, BrahMos missile exports, air-to-air missile cooperation, critical minerals, rare earths, maritime security, port development, space technology, agriculture and education. India also agreed to cooperate in developing Indonesia's Sabang Port while strengthening supply-chain resilience for strategic minerals. Modi reiterated India's commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific, emphasising development over expansionism. The logic is that geopolitical competition, supply-chain disruptions and maritime security require trusted strategic partnerships among like-minded countries. The editorial stand supports India's expanding role in the Indo-Pacific through diplomacy, defence cooperation and economic engagement while maintaining strategic autonomy. The gist is that India is steadily transforming from a regional power into a major Indo-Pacific strategic partner by combining defence exports, connectivity, technology and diplomacy.
