1. Modi at G7: Rebuilding Trust in a Fragmented World
At the G7 Outreach Summit in France, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the world today suffers not from a shortage of resources but from a shortage of trust. Addressing leaders including US President Donald Trump, Modi argued that trust is now the most important strategic asset in international relations. He highlighted how energy security, food security, cyber security and economic prosperity have become interconnected global concerns. The logic behind his statement is that rising geopolitical conflicts, trade disputes and strategic rivalries have weakened confidence in international institutions. Modi’s stand was that durable peace and prosperity can only emerge through dialogue, diplomacy and cooperation rather than confrontation. He also welcomed efforts to restore peace in West Asia and stressed maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. The gist is that India seeks a rules-based global order founded on mutual trust, inclusive development and stronger multilateral cooperation.
