1. LNG imports disrupted and gas allocation prioritised
India’s natural gas supply chain has been affected by disruptions in LNG shipments through the Strait of Hormuz amid the escalating West Asia conflict. In response, the Government of India invoked the Essential Commodities Act to prioritise gas allocation for critical sectors. According to the policy decision, priority will be given to household piped natural gas (PNG), CNG for vehicles, and LPG production, while supply to sectors like petrochemicals and gas-based power plants may be curtailed.
