THE HYDROSPHERE & WATER RESOURCES
1. Hydrosphere
The hydrosphere refers to all the water present on Earth, including oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, groundwater, glaciers, ice caps, and water vapour in the atmosphere. It covers about 71% of the Earth's surface and plays a crucial role in sustaining life. The hydrosphere regulates climate, supports ecosystems, and provides water for drinking, agriculture, industry, and transportation. Water continuously moves through the hydrological cycle, connecting the atmosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere. The hydrosphere is essential for maintaining ecological balance and supporting biodiversity. Without it, life on Earth would not be possible.
