1. Introduction to the Colorado River

The Colorado River is one of the most important rivers in North America, flowing through the United States and Mexico. Hoover Dam, located on the river, is a globally important hydroelectric and water-storage project. Las Vegas, though not directly on the river, depends heavily on its water through Lake Mead. Yuma, Arizona, is another important agricultural city benefiting from the river's irrigation.
