TEN CRITICAL QUESTIONS ON CURRENT GEOPLOITICAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES - 83
1. The U.S.–Iran agreement has reduced tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Why is this development important for India?
Answer: The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy routes. A large share of India's crude oil, LNG and LPG imports passes through this region. For India, the immediate benefit is greater energy security and lower uncertainty in global markets. However, the lesson is that India should not depend excessively on any single route or region. Diversification of energy sources, renewable energy and strategic reserves remain essential for long-term resilience.
