TEN CRITICAL QUESTIONS ON CURRENT GEOPLOITICAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES – 219
Q1. Digital arrest scams are increasing despite growing digital literacy. Should banks be held responsible for financial losses suffered by victims?
Answer: Sir/Ma'am, I believe banks should share responsibility when their negligence contributes to financial fraud. Digital arrest scams exploit fear by impersonating police officers and judicial authorities. Even educated people can become victims because criminals use psychological pressure. Banks should identify unusual transactions, confirm suspicious transfers and cooperate quickly with cybercrime authorities. However, banks should not automatically be held responsible for every fraud. Liability should depend on evidence, due diligence and applicable law. Citizens also need digital awareness. My view is that effective cybersecurity requires shared responsibility among banks, regulators, police and customers. Prevention is more valuable than compensation after fraud.
Q2. The Election Commission has reportedly extended the deadline for electoral-roll revision. Does extending deadlines strengthen democracy, or does it indicate administrative inefficiency?
