TEN CRITICAL QUESTIONS ON CURRENT GEOPLOITICAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES – 216
Q1. India and China have again exchanged statements concerning Arunachal Pradesh. How should India protect its territorial sovereignty without allowing border tensions to damage the entire bilateral relationship?
Answer: Sir/Ma'am, India's territorial sovereignty is non-negotiable, but diplomacy remains essential for regional stability. Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. India must maintain adequate military preparedness, border infrastructure and surveillance capabilities. At the same time, military and diplomatic communication with China should continue to prevent misunderstandings and accidental escalation. Economic cooperation may continue where it serves India's interests, but it should not create strategic dependence. India must also strengthen partnerships with neighbouring countries. My view is that firmness and dialogue are complementary. A confident India should defend its territory while keeping peaceful channels open for resolving disagreements.
