TEN CRITICAL QUESTIONS ON CURRENT GEOPLOITICAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES – 213
Q1. India and China continue to face tensions along the Line of Actual Control. Can India maintain strong economic relations with China without resolving the border dispute?
Answer: Sir/Ma'am, India can maintain limited economic cooperation with China, but lasting trust requires peace along the border. China is an important trading partner, while the unresolved boundary dispute creates serious security concerns. India should strengthen border infrastructure, surveillance and military preparedness while continuing diplomatic dialogue. Economic relations should be guided by national security, especially in critical technologies and infrastructure. However, completely stopping trade may harm Indian industries and consumers. India should reduce excessive dependence through domestic manufacturing and diversified supply chains. My view is that economic cooperation and national security must be balanced, but peace along the border should remain a central condition for stable bilateral relations.
