TEN CRITICAL QUESTIONS ON CURRENT GEOPLOITICAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES – 212
Q1. Recent reported Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia have affected Indian citizens. How should India respond without becoming involved in regional conflicts?
Answer: Sir/Ma'am, India's immediate priority should be the safety of its citizens. The reported attacks in Saudi Arabia highlight the vulnerability of civilians and critical infrastructure during regional conflicts. India should provide consular assistance, medical support and evacuation arrangements wherever necessary. Diplomatically, India should condemn attacks on civilians and encourage peaceful negotiations. At the same time, India must maintain constructive relations with different West Asian countries. The government should also prepare for possible disruptions in oil supplies and maritime trade. My view is that India's foreign policy should combine humanitarian responsibility, strategic autonomy and regional stability without unnecessarily entering military confrontations.
