1. Should NEET-UG be converted into a two-stage computer-based examination?
Answer: A two-stage computer-based NEET can improve examination security by reducing dependence on printed papers and limiting opportunities for leaks. It may also make a very large examination easier to manage. However, NEET has more than 22 lakh candidates, including many students from rural areas. Therefore, digital inequality is a serious concern. In my view, reform should be gradual. The government should first create adequate testing centres, conduct mock examinations and provide accessibility support.
