Subansiri Upper Hydroelectric Project
The Subansiri Upper Hydroelectric Project (SUHEP) is a proposed 1,605 MW hydropower project on the Subansiri River in Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. It is being developed by NHPC Limited and is planned as a run-of-the-river project with storage, serving the twin purposes of power generation and flood moderation. The project is located near Menga/Pairijo, about 20–25 km from Daporijo.
The project envisages a dam about 237 metres high, with a reservoir extending roughly 50 km and covering about 22.2 sq km at full reservoir level. The Subansiri is a major right-bank tributary of the Brahmaputra and flows from the Tibetan region through Arunachal Pradesh into Assam.
