Recently, India released the country’s first satellite-tagged Ganges softshell turtle into its natural habitat in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on the occasion of Endangered Species Day. The initiative was carried out under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change with support from the Wildlife Institute of India, Assam Forest Department and the National Geographic Society.
