1. Background and Recent Development
- On 16 October 2026, the sixth National Steering Committee meeting under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) approved ₹1,194.92 crore for modernising five Industrial Training Institute (ITI) clusters.
- With these approvals, cumulative sanctioned investment under PM-SETU reached ₹3,687 crore.
2. Historical Background and Scheme Structure
- Launched on 4 October 2025, PM-SETU stands for Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs.
- The ₹60,000-crore scheme aims to upgrade 1,000 government ITIs, comprising 200 hubs and 800 spokes.
- Funding: Centre ₹30,000 crore, states ₹20,000 crore and industry ₹10,000 crore.
