The NITI Aayog has launched the Divya Bharat Compendium to strengthen India’s tourism ecosystem and position the country as a global, year-round destination. It presents a unified framework showcasing the cultural, historical, and natural diversity of all states and Union Territories.
Salient Features: The compendium includes around 3,000 curated entries—over 2,100 destinations and 1,200 cultural elements such as cuisine, crafts, and festivals. A key innovation is the “intelligent travel calendar,” which recommends destinations across 12 months based on climate, festivals, and geography. It emphasizes experiential tourism through homestays, eco-tourism, and community participation. The initiative involves collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, academic institutions like IITTM and ISPP, and private stakeholders such as Airbnb.
