Historically, rapid urbanisation, habitat fragmentation, and excessive pesticide use have led to a global decline in pollinator populations. In India, this trend poses a direct threat to agricultural productivity, as nearly 75% of food crops depend on pollination. Recognising this, India has increasingly adopted ecosystem-based approaches within infrastructure policies, such as the Green Highways Policy.
