NABL: INDIA’S NATIONAL ACCREDITATION BODY FOR TESTING AND CALIBRATION LABORATORIES
Context: The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has launched India’s first dedicated accreditation scheme for Mobile Food Testing Laboratories. The scheme aims to extend reliable and quality-assured food testing beyond conventional laboratories and closer to consumers, markets and remote communities.
Background: NABL functions as a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI) and assesses the technical competence of conformity-assessment bodies. It accredits testing and calibration laboratories under ISO/IEC 17025 and medical laboratories under ISO 15189, besides other specialised bodies.
