The 13th edition of Exercise MILAN 2026, hosted by the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam, marks one of the largest multilateral naval engagements in the Indo-Pacific. MILAN began in 1995 at Port Blair with just four countries—Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand—under the Andaman and Nicobar Command. Over time, it expanded significantly, paralleling India’s transition from the “Look East” to the “Act East” policy. Since 2022, the exercise has been shifted to Visakhapatnam to accommodate larger participation and complex naval operations.
