Election Commission Defends Electoral Roll Revision Before Supreme Court
The Election Commission of India (EC) has informed the Supreme Court that it has a constitutional duty to ensure that no foreign nationals remain on electoral rolls, defending the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. The EC rejected the allegation that the exercise amounts to a “parallel National Register of Citizens (NRC)”, describing such claims as rhetorical and misleading.
