The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has officially notified standards for E30 ethanol-blended petrol, marking another important step in India's biofuel transition. Background
India has steadily increased ethanol blending under the National Policy on Biofuels, 2018. Ethanol blending began as a modest initiative to reduce oil imports and support farmers. Over the years, India achieved significant progress with E10 and E20 fuel blends. The notification of E22, E25, E27 and E30 grades represents the next phase of India's long-term strategy to expand biofuel usage and move towards greater energy self-reliance.
