Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Bargarh district of Odisha near the Hirakud Dam on the Mahanadi River, has recently gained attention as it hosted the second edition of the “Indian Bison Fest” in March 2026. The festival aims to raise awareness about the conservation of the Indian bison (Gaur) and to promote sustainable eco-tourism in the region. Activities such as night camping, stargazing, cruise safaris on the Hirakud reservoir, and visits to Bat Island are included to encourage public engagement with nature.
