Cyclone Shakti Alert in Maharashtra
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding Cyclone Shakti, the first cyclonic storm of the 2025 season over the Arabian Sea. The system originated as a low-pressure area in late September 2025 and intensified into a cyclonic storm by early October due to favourable ocean temperatures and atmospheric conditions. The IMD has warned that the cyclone may impact Maharashtra, particularly its coastal belt, between 3 and 7 October 2025.
