The system is intended to strengthen India's capability against the rapidly growing threat of hostile drones and swarm attacks.
What is Akash Tarang?
Akash Tarang is an advanced soft-kill Counter-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (C-UAV) Electronic Warfare System developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Instead of physically destroying drones, it neutralizes them by disrupting their communication and navigation systems. It has been developed under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives with production support from defence public sector undertakings such as Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and private MSMEs.
